CSV files lost and muse calibration question

Post by sy06 »

Hi,
I ve just done asession, at the end, Ive share it to my email.

Then I have close the app, maybe a bit faster then usually.

It lookslike it was to fast as It didn't arrive on my mail.

Is there anyway to recover it ?

I have check on myphone it doesn't look like there is any file on it as well .

BTW thanks for this app , wich I think is much better than original muse app as muse app allways calibrate and so i think its impossible to see the improvment as the app allways calibrate prior to do the session , this is a big error from then i guess .
What do you think about that ?

Thank you ,

Best regards

The recording get stored in the phones default download folder. When you close the app this temporary file is removed to stop your phone filling up. If you close the app before the file was emailed, then it is likely gone, sorry.. but if you want to check, plug your phone into the computer and have a look in the downloads folder.

I'm not sure what you mean by calibration. If you're talking about the beginning phase when the app waits for a bit before letting you start; It's just waiting for a thin band of sweat to form to make a good electrical connection. There's nothing happening hardware or software wise.

Hi James .
Are you sure of what you say regarding the MUSE app Calibration process ?
Because from my experience I m allmost sure that the APP is reading your mind during this 1min to make a calibration .
Exemple meditation 1: I have try to be with my eyes open during this time, and then when the meditation started i meditate and was allways in the "calmarea with birds "
Meditation 2 :But if i start again the process , do the calibration by closing my eyes during the calibration and start to meditate deeply during this 1min, then when the meditation start it is very very hard to get into calm area and birds . But in the the thing is that I m in the exact same state as the first meditation.
So for sure this calibration process is very bad to see our progrees in meditation . As Evrytime we launch a meditation it is reseting all seting ang getting a new base of calibration .
Hope that make sense, can you confirm and why are they doing this ? It is very hard to see any progress as the result will allways be different if you enter the meditation in the morning , at night, after stressfull moment etc ........ Actually this MUSE app can only show us our abiliyty to progress during ONE session how are we able to slow down .. ? Right ?
This is actually why I have decided to find an other app to use MUS headband and finnaly find your Mind monitor app which actually is much more efficient to see long term result even it's definitely more work , to extract and use the result to observe it.

Thanks

You need to leave the Muse on for a bit in order for the sweat band to form, otherwise you can't get a good reading. I was told by an InteraXon employee many years ago that the intro bit before it starts recording was to help with this.
However, that was a long time ago and I don't have access to their code, so things can change! ;-)
Most research on relaxation says to look for an increase in relative Alpha, so maybe they're using the "calibration" period as a starting point for this and if you skew it with bad data to start, it would make it look like you're more relaxed after that.
